Industry Partners

London

Your first pilot may be closer than you think.

London's utilities, energy companies, and industrial players actively partner with climate startups. These are the organizations opening their infrastructure, grids, and customers to new technology.

National Grid Partners

National Grid Partners is the corporate venture and innovation arm of National Grid, investing across seed to growth in grid modernization, storage, distributed energy, e-mobility, resilience, and decarbonization. Beyond capital it offers pilot access to National Grid's UK and US operations and a global utility network of potential customers. It is UK-headquartered with a London office, though its main hub is in Silicon Valley.

Octopus Energy: Kraken and Octopus Energy Generation

Octopus Energy is a clean-energy retailer and technology group, not a startup accelerator or VC. Its Kraken platform, now spinning out, is a licensing and partnership route for utilities rather than an investor, and Octopus Energy Generation does renewables project and infrastructure finance, not early-stage venture. For venture funding under the Octopus brand, founders approach the separate Octopus Ventures.

Centrica Innovations

Centrica Innovations is the corporate venture and innovation arm of Centrica, the British Gas parent, investing dilutive equity from seed to Series A in distributed energy and storage, EV, connected home, and AI and robotics for the transition. Beyond capital it offers strategic access to Centrica and British Gas customers and route to market. It is a genuine UK corporate investor.

bp Ventures Launchpad

bp Ventures is bp's corporate venture arm, historically investing across low-carbon and transition themes including bioenergy, EV charging, renewables, and hydrogen, with strategic access to bp's business units. It is UK-headquartered with London-based leadership. Note that bp has recently pivoted back toward oil and gas and agreed to sell much of its ventures portfolio, so its low-carbon venture commitment is in retreat.

Shell Ventures

Shell Ventures is Shell's corporate venture arm, a significant-minority investor across power, mobility, emissions management, and digital, including renewables, storage, EV, hydrogen, and carbon capture, with strategic access to Shell's global businesses. It is UK-headquartered. Note that parts of its portfolio have recently been under strategic review amid a pivot toward LNG and upstream, so treat its climate venture activity as in flux.
